Michael O'Grady

O'GRADY Michael O'Grady passed away March 18, 2008 at his home in Jacksonville Beach. He was born November 30, 1954 in Jacksonville and was a lifelong resident of the Beaches area. He graduated from Terry Parker High School and enjoyed a career as a chef and building contractor. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying surfing, hunting, fishing and boating. He loved to travel, especially in the islands of the Caribbean. Michael loved to prepare the most wonderful foods to share with family and friends. He was never without a smile or a good story to share. In a eulogy he wrote for a friend he said, " I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge, that dreams are more powerful than facts, that laughter is the only cure for grief and that love is stronger than death." He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Rainey and Jeff Hinton and grandson Grady of Tuscaloosa, AL; son, Patrick and Amy O'Grady of Jacksonville; brother, Kevin O'Grady of Gainesville; father, John and Beverly O'Grady of Sea Girt, N.J.; mother, Anne O'Grady of Jacksonville; parents John and Frances Peterson of Jacksonville and a host of friends. A celebration of Mike's life was held Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 3 p.m. on the beach near his home at 15th Ave. S. and 1st St. S. in Jacksonville Beach.
