Robert Poole and I were in Boy Scouts together. We had some good times. He usually beat me in every competitive pursuit, but I remember hanging on and winning a rope bridge battle between us at Billy's Island in the Okeefenokee swamp during a December camping trip. I saw him again several years later, just before he died. He was getting a pilots license and he wanted to fly helicopters.

I rememember Robert more from Parkwood Heights Elementary and Arlington Junior High.
If I remember correctly, he died in a small plane crash, he was the pilot and the only person aboard.

You are correct, Rob. It was heartbreaking when he died so young, but he was doing what he REALLY wanted to do.
