Sorry to hear of this.  I had John in some of my classes, although I did not know him real well.  Seems that his family lived in the Colony Cove neighborhood and he rode the bus to and from school?

This news has hit me hard with thoughts about mortality and faded friendships. John ("Elmo") was one of the first kids I met when we moved to Jacksonville in 1970. We were neighbors in Colony Cove on Ft. Caroline Road. We both went to St. Johns River CC in Palatka, then roomed together in an apartment at FSU for junior year. Regrettably, we had not stayed in touch over the last couple of decades. Life seems to mostly cruise along and before we know it, many years have passed and then something jolts us out of autopilot. Elmo was a fun dude and I am deeply saddened by this. Rest in peace, JE.

I was so sad to hear of John's passing.  I considered him a good friend in high school and we recently reconnected at one of our reunions.  He was always so kind and fun to be with.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.  I will miss his facebook posts. RIP my friend.
