Born on June 15, 1955, to Robert and Jeanette Lawrence; Annette (Nettie) was a dynamic, ever-strong and gentle person of great character. 

Her life started in Pensacola, Florida, as her father was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. Her family moved often in those early years, as the Navy dictated. 

Her brothers from her birth parents are: Robert (Bobby) Lawrence living in Lakeland, FL, and Charles Lawrence of Jacksonville, FL. 

While she was quite young, her parents divorced, and lots of changes came along. 

Her dad remarried to Viola Brazeale, and her mom remarried to Euless Lakey. 

In all of this, on her new step-mom side, she gained a half-brother, Davy, two step-brothers, Edgar and Denny, and a step-sister, Brenda. 

On her new step-dad side, she gained two half-brothers, John and Miko Lakey. 

The household was always full, and the relationship between all these kids was full of good and bad times, as in most mixed families. 

Annette graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, and worked in corporate downtown Jacksonville for a short time, saved her money, and moved in with her aunt, Mary Else Beall in Gainesville, FL, to attend college. 

She worked her way through college, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Urban Planning. During this time, she met her future husband, Chuck Hall. 

Chuck pursued her for a number of years, and she finally agreed to marry him in 1988. 

They moved to a home near the ocean in Neptune Beach, FL. She had begun her long career in insurance sales and service in those days, which she retired from in 2017. 

In 2006, the couple moved to Fernandina Beach, to Chuck’s grandparent’s house downtown. Annette became immersed in her new home and the town. Once she retired, she devoted much more of herself to local charities and the Methodist Church. 

Annette came from a long line of Methodists, and her grandfather was actually a Methodist minister. 

Her daily study of the Scriptures, helped her to endure the illness and treatments. Her last study was in the Gospel of Mark. She came closer to Christ as she studied His persona in this book. 

Through all her years, there was little more important to her than family and friends. She stayed in close contact with as many as possible. 

Her relatives are spread all over the Southeastern U.S. ; Chuck and Annette would travel often to visit. She found great joy in those visits. 

Annette leaves behind so many relatives, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, close friends, business associates, acquaintances, and admirers…… there are hundreds. 

She was loved and supported during her long treatment of 8 years. While there was lots of pain and doubt, there was never a moment that she was left to suffer alone. She was a strong advocate for her own health and treatments, seeking alternative treatments when traditional medicines failed to work. 

She held back the illness until April of 2022, when problems complicated her ability to function. She passed on to her eternal reward on July 1, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on July 16, 2022, 4 PM, at the Memorial United Methodist Church at 601 Centre Street, downtown Fernandina Beach, FL. 

She requested cremation. Those interested in sending flowers, may do so, but Annette would hope for a donation to either Cats Angels or Barnabas Center, both here in Fernandina Beach.
